About Me
My name is Caroline (Carey) Stewart and I am proud to be a scholar-athlete, dedicated to volleyball. As a junior in a rigorous academic environment, I am devoted to both volleyball and academics. My skills as a player and my commitment to team leadership combine to be my greatest offering. As a starting setter my freshman, sophomore, and years, I enjoyed recognition for individual and team success and satisfaction from leading a winning team. Stepping into the starting setting spot as a freshman and leading a team with players senior to me gave me the experience I needed to lead a young team the following year. As a junior, I was recognized on the All Area South Team and the All Tournament team, and I was also honored to be named Area Player of the Year/Tournament MVP. Our team was crowned area champions for the second straight year, and we advanced to the final four. I was placed on the All Northeast Georgia first team, as well as the all county team. As a sophomore, I was placed on the All Area First Team, the All Northeast Georgia first team, and on the All-county team, and our team was crowned area champions and advanced to the sweet sixteen. As a freshman, I was awarded multiple awards for my outstanding play. I was placed on the All Area Second Team, the All Northeast Georgia Second Team, awarded an honorable mention for the All-county team and our team’s Coaches’ award. As an Advanced Placement student with a 4.0 GPA, I was recognized with the William E. Smith Award for Excellence in Academics (both Freshman and Sophomore year, in four and five disciplines, respectively), the Top Ten Award in my freshman and sophomore classes, the Summa Cum Laude award on the National Latin Exam (all exams since 2007), and the distinguished Honor Roll for each quarter of high school. Additionally, I was inducted to Our School's National Honor Society (Phi Beta Kappa) for my pursuit of and excellence with honor. I scored a 1450 (2090 Writing included) on my first attempt at the SAT, and in taking the PSAT my sophomore and junior years, I scored 205 and 215 respectively. I strive to lead my team in every way possible and to be the best that I can be at everything I do. This requires both mental and physical stamina. As a captain, I encourage my teammates in sportsmanship, poise, respect, cooperation, and enthusiasm. As a player, I seek every opportunity to gain instruction and experience. I work as hard as I can everyday, and pride myself in being very coachable. I gel well with other girls and understand the vitality of team chemistry. One of my best game moments, and one of my favorite aspects of the game, is when I am the player standing at the end line with a score of 23-24, 24-24, or 24-25. As I step back to serve, I am satisfied knowing that I can not only put a serve over the net and in, but a good, hard serve to set my team up for success.
